Day Four at Sziget Festival 2024 in Budapest, Hungary
Bebe Rexa kicks off day 4 at Sziget Festival with high energy, powerful vocals, & a message of love
On Day Four of Sziget Festival, US singer-songwriter Bebe Rexa was first on the main stage and opened her set with her chart-topping hit with G-Eazy: 'Me, Myself and I'. The crowd immediately started singing along as Bebe Rexa strutted along the stage surrounded by her backing dancers. Bebe Rexa went on to play 'I'm a Mess' from her debut studio album Expectations which was released in 2018. In the middle of her set, the singer brought two people up on stage for a dance battle to 'Sacrifice'. During the dance battle, the girl who the singer had brought on stage held up a gay pride flag creating a beautiful moment. Bebe Rexa showed off her incredible vocals during her hit with Martin Garrix 'In the Name of Love', and before playing the song she spoke candidly about her experiences of body shaming, she stated: "We spread love, not hate. So don't hate, masturbate". The final song was Bebe Rexa's song with David Guetta 'I'm Good (Blue)', and the crowd sang loudly to the chorus: "I'm good yeah I'm feeling alright," and we all had the best night of our lives.”
Louis Tomlinson charms with a mix of solo hits & One Direction nostalgia
Next on stage was One Direction superstar turned solo artist, Louis Tomlinson. He opened his set with 'Kill My Mind' followed by 'Somebody Told Me'. Whilst he has solidified himself as a solo artist, Louis also played One Direction hit 'Drag Me Down', which was a crowd favourite as a wave of nostalgia for 2010s One Direction rippled through the crowd as everyone shouted the lyrics. Louis Tomlinson stated "Festivals are a new thing for me. I'm used to being one of you guys in the crowd", but this made him even more endearing to the crowd who welcomed him onto the Sziget stage with open arms. As his set drew to a close, Louis played 'Night Changes' and 'Saturdays', slowing down the tempo with his ballads. The final song of his set was 'Where do Broken Hearts Go?', and the crowd sang along to the chorus.
Martin Garrix closes the night with an energetic main stage debut
The final act on the main stage was Dutch DJ and record producer, Martin Garrix. The sheer number of people who turned up to see his set was overwhelming. This is the first time at Sziget that a DJ has played on the main stage, and Martin Garrix is a name that was on everyone's lips as the 'must see' act of the evening. Martin Garrix played 'High On Life'. Garrix also played his debut hit 'Animals', which was produced when the DJ was only 17 years old. Martin Garrix and Dua Lipa's hit 'Scared To Be Lonely' was also a crowd favourite. One of the final songs played was 'In the Name of Love', an echo to Bebe Rexa's set. Despite technical problems during his set that caused the music to stop playing, Garrix produced an energetic set that showed that he was the champion of the pop and electronic scene.
