Nicolle: Madison, 'TOO MUCH!' delves into revisiting old love. Can you share what inspired you to explore this theme in such a personal and evocative way?

Madison: I wrote this song after going back to my old house in England to get my things. This song came from a raw, real moment, and I didn’t hold anything back when writing it. Seeing an old love for the first time after a breakup is such a complicated experience—because love and chemistry don't just fade, but you are forced to act like strangers. This song captures that deep internal conflict.

Nicolle: You mentioned merging your two worlds lyrically and sonically for 'TOO MUCH!' How does West London hold sentimental value for you, and how did that influence the song's vibe?

Madison: West London holds a very special place in my heart. I lived there for a while and truly made it feel like home! I have the greatest memories there, and this song was inspired by those moments.

Nicolle: The music video for 'TOO MUCH!' features an all-female crew. What inspired you to take this approach, and how did it impact the creative process?

Madison: I only work with female directors! All of my videos have been directed by incredibly talented women. It is something that I plan to do for the rest of my life. I find it much more comfortable, empowering, and efficient.

Nicolle: The smoky guitars, Americana drums, and subtle bassline in 'TOO MUCH!' create such a unique sound. How did you and Tone Def approach the production to capture the song’s bittersweet essence?

Madison: I envisioned this song sounding like Southern California—effortlessly cool and electric. I wanted the bass to follow my melody, punching and emphasizing certain lines. Tone Def truly brought my vision to life with the synths, electric guitars, and drums, and the final result is exactly how I dreamed it would sound. I’m incredibly proud of this production!

Nicolle: Your September release, 'Heralds of Hope,' marked a shift in your artistic direction. How does 'TOO MUCH!' continue or evolve from that journey?"

Madison: Both songs are so raw and honest, capturing some of the challenging moments I’ve faced over the past two years. That honesty will remain at the core of everything I create moving forward. This is an era of living authentically—true to who I am and what I’ve been through. I hope that these songs resonate with people and offer comfort in their own journeys.

Nicolle: Having started songwriting and playing guitar at just eleven, how do you feel your artistry has grown since your debut with The Chronicles of Lovers in 2020?"

Madison: Everything has evolved and matured! My approach to writing, production, and even how I work in the studio. I’m incredibly particular about every detail of the creative process and constantly striving to improve.

Nicolle: Performing at venues like The Viper Room and The Peppermint Club must have been thrilling. How have these iconic spaces shaped your experience as a performer?

Madison: Every space is so different and offers something new. There are so many places that I will be playing in the new year, and I am so excited! There is nothing I love more than playing to a room full of people and just seeing them enjoy themselves. I’m so grateful for every opportunity I get to be on stage.

Nicolle: The blend of Southern California and West London influences in 'TOO MUCH!' is captivating. How do these geographic and cultural elements reflect your identity as an artist?

Madison: I was born and raised in Southern California, and I have always been so inspired by the different bands and artists who have come from here. Then I lived in England for three years and became incredibly inspired by being there. This song brings together those worlds. Lyrically it is rooted in England and sonically it sounds like home. It is a very symbolic reflection of my journey and artistry.

Nicolle: Your work has been recognised by outlets like Wonderland, Rolling Stone India, and Earmilk. How has this press attention shaped your confidence and goals as an indie artist?"

Madison: Getting recognised by outlets like Wonderland and Earmilk, and yourself, has been so incredible. I am so grateful for all the different publications who like my work enough to share it with their audience.

Nicolle: Looking ahead, how do you see 'TOO MUCH!' setting the tone for your future projects and your overall growth as a musician?

Madison: I’m currently working on my EP, and this song is a true representation of what’s to come. It’s my most honest and vulnerable work yet, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear it in its entirety! It tells a really beautiful story.

Madison Margot’s TOO MUCH! isn’t just a song; it’s an invitation to feel deeply and live authentically. With her heartfelt lyrics, dynamic sound, and fearless dedication to empowerment, Madison continues to redefine what it means to be an indie artist. As she works on her upcoming EP, we can’t wait to see how this new chapter unfolds. Keep an eye on Madison Margot—she’s a star who’s only just beginning to shine.
