Crafting Inner Strength: An Interview with Liz Crow on Mindfulness, Intention, and Jewellery Design
Liz Crow, founder of Liz Crow London, is redefining what jewellery can mean to the modern woman. Her designs blend stunning artistry with profound intention, creating wearable reminders that connect women with their inner strength and aspirations.
Drawing inspiration from her personal journey through mindfulness, yoga, and self-discovery—particularly during her struggles with hair loss—Liz has developed a philosophy rooted in empowerment and healing.
In this exclusive interview, Liz shares how her pieces embody energy, intention, and motion, helping women navigate life's dynamic changes with elegance and purpose.
Nicolle: What personal experiences led you to focus on mindfulness and intention as the foundation of Liz Crow London’s jewellery designs?
Liz: I see jewellery as having the power to be able to remind us of specific messages, with it being so close to us and I wanted to utilise this to create positive changes in women’s lives. I have connected with my own inner power through practicing mindfulness and living with intention, and I wanted to make this accessible to every woman through subtle yet meaningful wearable reminders, helping them to stay focused on their goals. My love of yoga and Eastern wisdom inspired me to bring these ideologies into our day-to-day life, as they have been a source of healing for me in the past. I find meditation helps to calm my anxiety, freeing my mind to be more present and able to connect with my highest self. Each piece of jewellery is a subtle tool to help other women connect with theirs. I have always wanted to make a positive difference in others’ lives.
Nicolle: How did your journey through hair loss and healing shape the philosophy and purpose behind your brand?
Liz: My journey through hair loss taught me that all we have control over is how we perceive events, not the events themselves. I had to make a choice to focus my mind on the positives and believe in my inner strength. I was searching for jewellery to help remind me of these and bring me back to specific intentions, however, the only type of mindful jewellery I could find was overtly symbolic, such as the tree of life, and was obvious to others what the meaning was about.
I therefore decided to create my own style of mindful jewellery that was different, where the focus was primarily on creating stunning, design-led pieces, which contained meanings that were personal only to the wearer alone. I design for women like me, who are open-minded, spiritual and on a path of self-discovery, yet want to keep their journey private to themselves. They want pieces that suit their chic and modern style, yet hold a profound meaning to them, and them alone. I have always wanted to make a positive difference in others’ lives and after seeing how the pieces had inspired and empowered me, I wanted to inspire other women.
We all deserve to live to our truest potential and my goal is to help as many women as possible connect with this.
Nicolle. Your mantra, “Energy flows where intention goes,” plays a central role in your designs. How do you incorporate this mantra into the creation of each jewellery piece?
Liz: Each piece is made with molten metal, by splashing it to make dynamic shapes and capturing energy in motion. These fluid designs embody energy flow and remind us to be conscious of where we are focusing our energy and attention at a particular time allowing us to mindfully refocus, helping shape our reality. I have suggested intentions in my two collections, Resilient and Present, where each piece in the collection is named after an emotion that is a building block of each of these, such as Fortitude and Gratitude. We also have an intention setting mediation on the website if the wearer would like to infuse the piece with their own meaning.
Nicolle: Can you share more about the process of designing jewellery that captures the balance between stillness and motion, and how this reflects life’s dynamic changes?
Liz: I am very much inspired by the metal itself, we have a partnership where it takes on my emotion as the fluidity lands yet also has its own life and way of behaving. Its fluid and unpredictable outcomes reflect the dynamic changes of life. I then work with each piece in different ways to create final pieces, working like a producer, with my creative partner, the metal. I have an experiential approach which utilises my background in fine art painting, giving me the freedom to explore and try new things. This learner’s mind is what keeps designing and life interesting for me.
Nicolle: How has the recognition from events like the Diana Porter Gallery exhibition and awards like Emerging Jewellery Designer of the Year impacted the growth and vision of Liz Crow London?
Liz: The resulting visibility and credibility these have provided have given me a brilliant opportunity to reach more people, with the backing of such repeatable companies in the industry. It has been a springboard to new opportunities, and new customers and has helped me to have a greater reach far quicker.
Nicolle: What advice would you give to other women looking to use jewellery or other mindful practices as tools for healing, self-discovery, and personal transformation?
Liz: I think for me the key has been showing myself self-compassion at whatever point I am at. I’m not saying I find that easy, my internal critic runs wild at the best of times, however, this is the tried and tested way that if I fall off track, I can get back to it quicker. Trying to show up with some level of consistency to see the positive benefits is helpful, however, it’s ok if you don’t tomorrow is a new day!
Things like therapy, yoga and meditation have been instrumental in helping me get to a better place, however, the journey isn’t linear, so celebrate all your wins no matter how small and check in a year from now – you’ll be amazed how far you have come. In terms of jewellery, before wearing a piece I like to hold it in my hands take a few deep breaths, and visualize it carrying the energy of your intention. I also use when putting a piece on or taking it off, as a moment to reflect on your day, your progress, or any challenges you’re working through.
Liz Crow’s vision goes far beyond aesthetics. Her jewellery designs are tools of transformation, inviting wearers to embrace mindfulness and celebrate their personal journeys. As she continues to expand her reach through recognition and innovation, Liz’s mission remains the same: to inspire women to connect with their highest selves and live with intention. Whether through a fluid metal design or a moment of reflection, Liz Crow London offers more than jewellery—it offers empowerment.
