In conversation with Tori Boughey, founder of TBalance Crystals
The invitation to interview UK’s fabulous Health Coach and Jewelry Designer, Tori Boughey of TBalance is a thrill! I discovered her embodied path that led her to work with clients through health coaching.
In this interview, Tori describes her childhood being immersed in spirituality. Her inspiration to connect deeply with others is highlighted by the additions of the elements of the Earth in her TBalance business. Throughout our conversation, I found a grounded professional who transforms and dazzles her clients with wearable mantras.
Let’s dive into to explore the Tori’s unique story.
What was your path that led you to holistic health coaching?
I’ve always been drawn to helping people. Like so many people do, I found myself at a point in my early 20s where I felt directionless and numb. I grew up in a very spiritual environment - surrounded by crystals and my mum is a reiki healer. I knew the path I wanted to take, but I was struggling to find balance in life - I used to be a very ‘all or nothing’ type person. I embarked on my own personal journey and founded TBalance after I felt I had really done the work on myself and was ready to support others. I’ve been a holistic coach for years now.
Your personal story can be duplicated for others. This is inspiring. I like the offerings you have for coaching that go straight to the heart of supporting your clients. Describe the formula for TBalance?
It’s in the name! The coaching is all about helping people identify where there is imbalance in their life and trying to support a more sustainably measured way of living. It’s not about making huge changes - it’s more about encouraging my clients to be the best version of themselves to achieve long term happiness - this is something that really comes through in the messaging of our crystal bracelets too.
What does the "T" in TBalance represent?
When I was brainstorming a name for the business I really wanted to keep it personal but I didn’t want to use my name. My initials are TB - I wanted to incorporate them in a way that reflected the ideology of the coaching, so that’s how I came up with TBalance.
Your courses and bespoke offerings seem curated to fit the nature of the client. Is this ever challenging for you to gauge?
To be honest I don’t find it challenging to gauge the needs of the individual. It’s usually very clear from my initial consultation where they need to pour some focus and there are often reoccurring themes that people are dealing with. Nothing is ever straightforward though - so often people have issues that are intertwined with one another; mostly people are dealing with a combination of stress at work and relationship troubles.
You have worked with so many famous individuals and celebrities. How did you find yourself serving these individuals?
I’d be lying if I didn’t say a lot of this was down to luck! We are so fortunate that the pieces found their way to Kylie Jenner and Bella Hadid. People do really respond to our jewellery - I think the fact that the pieces can be made bespoke combined with their deep healing energies make them something that people really connect with.
How do the crystal bracelets and jewellery work with the TBalance system? My children wear the heart-moonstone bracelets and the quality is outstanding.
At the heart of TBalance as a whole lies the power of self-love, development and helping people. All of our crystal bracelets are strung with positive affirmations (a technique that I always introduce to my clients) which pair with the healing properties of the crystals. I think that the two go hand in hand.
How did creating a product beyond services inspire creativity in your business?
When I was just running TBalance as a coach it was just me on my own. Fast forward a few years later and I run a jewellery business alongside my coaching, working with an amazing group of 3 women. I find my team so inspiring - we all add something completely different to the business and it has really enriched my creative mind. Creating a product like this is so much fun - coming up with the designs, researching the crystals and rolling our sleeves up to create this handmade magical jewellery - I am so grateful for the creative outlet it awards me.
Did the outcome of adding jewellery to your work result in the way you dreamed it would?
Honestly, it has been beyond what I ever could have imagined. When I started this part of the business I was making bracelets on my bedroom floor in lockdown. Now we are found on Net-A-Porter, Browns Fashion and Selfridges - it’s truly beyond any dreams I ever had.
What advice would you offer a health coach starting their own practice?
My number one piece of advice for someone starting out would be stay in your lane! Do what feels right for you, teach what feels right for you and use yourself as your own work experience. Always practice what you preach, otherwise your coaching won’t feel authentic to yourself or your clients.
What is next for TBalance & Tori Boughey?
At TBalance Crystals we have so many exciting projects coming up this year. We are so proud to be continuing our partnership with our favourite Charity, Choose Love and have a collaboration this summer that is very dear to my heart.
We’ve also spent time working on our sustainability strategy and are heading towards a 100% sustainable model for our production.
As ever, we will be introducing some very special crystals into our permanent collection this year.
