Poem: Letter to mum

As I put my pen to paper- to write you a note.

Let me tell you of the feelings that I emote,

I want to tell you're an angel and more.

Your heart is of gold which I adore.

Your external beauty had no bounds,

just like your soul that is renowned.

You were able to touch everything and everyone,

with the purity of your inner golden soul.

I wish I got to know you sooner,

but you were older and me a junior.

As I grew to become the woman I am.

I have tried to emulate you the best I can.

You blew me away by the way you lived,

by the honesty and integrity that you applied.

You touched the hearts of all that crossed your path.

And mother dear, that's why you'll always be in my heart.

I promise to follow all that you taught.

Even when things get a bit fraught.

I will always aim to be in control,

and I'll make this to be my forever living goal.

I hope one day I'll be able to look into your eyes,

and when I hug you at the pearly gates of heaven,

that you'll whisper in my ears,

"I'm very proud of you, my dear."

I love you with all my heart,

and even though we are still apart.

One day we'll be together,

at the gates of heaven forever and evermore.
