If you haven’t already heard of UNIQUE CBD, don’t worry, you’re here now and I’m going to tell you ALL about your new must-have bedside table and handbag product.

After a rise in CBD products being sold in the past few years, it’s no wonder that I was intrigued by yet another company selling CBD oil that has a whole host of benefits. But lo and behold, after speaking to co-founders of UNIQUE CBD, Evie and Oli, I’ve come out of the experience far more knowledgeable about the whole shebang. Frankly, it would be rude of me not to share my new found wisdom with you lovely people.

So, with that in mind, here is what you need to know firstly about CBD in general.

CBD is just one of over 100 different chemical compounds that make up the marijuana and hemp plants called cannabinoids (sounds a bit like a haemorrhoid cream, I know). But don’t be fooled, the only cannabinoid that gets you ‘high’ is tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), so don’t imagine you’ll be getting the same feels as smoking a cheeky spliff. This means that CBD can be used for a multitude of different things. I was fortunate enough to be able to catch up with UNIQUE CBD’s co-founders Evie Marcer and Oli White (you may already know them from Instagram and Youtube) to ask them a few quick fire questions.

What made you guys decide to create the business?

As individuals who both run full-time businesses and with a demanding online presence, we are no strangers to anxiety, stress and the pressures of everyday life. We were looking for some relief when we were introduced to CBD by a close family member. They found that the introduction of CBD into their lives helped them on their journey to recovery and suggested we try it.

We then sat down with doctors and scientists who have studied CBD for years and educated ourselves on the industry and all things CBD. We decided to create our own oil for personal use that was high quality, free from potent smells and tastes, and that we knew we could TRUST - from there it became an essential supplement to our everyday health routine.

Fun fact: our bodies all naturally have an endocannabinoid system (ECS) that is involved in maintaining our health and wellbeing, and CBD can communicate with the receptors of this system. The ECS helps to regulate many of our bodies’ daily functions from mood to mobility, pain, inflammation, temperature, immune system, appetite, focus/attention capacity and our cellular communication and health- so it's imperative we take good care of this system.

In an industry so new, misunderstood and with a significant lack of certified products on the market, finding an honest and effective CBD product was proving very challenging to recommend to others. This was when UNIQUE CBD was born.

How did you come up with concept?

Honestly, the concept came to us after failing to find honest, reliable products in the UK market. We bought so many, trialled and tested options, and later found out many contained little to no CBD and any effects were in fact a placebo. If we couldn’t find a product that worked for us, how could anyone else? We wanted to create an honest and trustworthy brand which was transparent to the consumer, educating them along the way of this incredible natural formula.

What makes Unique CBD different from other similar CBD brands?

Transparency and honesty. Every UNIQUE CBD product has 3rd party lab testing and comes with a certificate of analysis. We use USA pharma-grade hemp which is CO2 extracted. All of our products are produced in an ISO 9001 class clean laboratory and are free from potent smells and tastes, pesticides and heavy metals. They are also gluten-free, vegan friendly and cruelty-free.

Here at UNIQUE CBD, we are committed to giving back to our planet and environment. We have partnered with Ecologi, who tackle climate change by planting trees to help create resilient, healthy forests that are crucial to sustain the ecosystem. Every month we are donating to Ecologi to plant trees all over the world whilst contributing towards offsetting our carbon footprint.

How did you come up with the design and feel for the brand?

Creating an aesthetically pleasing brand was important to us. We want people to feel good when supplementing their everyday health and wellness - creating clean, minimalistic branding was essential, and all part of breaking away from the negative stigma that some people associate with CBD.

Are you worried at all about associations that CBD may have to smoking weed and cannabis (THC)?

We hope that through lots of education on our social media channels and on our website, we can help people understand the distinction between THC and CBD, and really spread a wider awareness as to the difference between the two. THC is the active ingredient in Cannabis that interacts with your body’s systems to make you feel high. CBD does also interact with your body, but it’s a different chemical with different effects and will not cause the “high” sensation commonly attributed to THC.

What kind of products are UNIQUE CBD offering?

We have launched with our DAY DROPS range. Our signature everyday oil tincture is a 1500mg strength natural peppermint flavour in a 30ml bottle, which is also available in travel size (10ml) and pocket-size (3ml) versions for those after a top-up on the go.
