The Journey of Classy Casita: Home Decor, Travel, and Manifestations
In the vibrant realm where home decor, travel, and positive manifestation converge, Classy Casita has emerged as a distinctive Latinx-owned presence, weaving a narrative that transcends traditional boundaries. For founder Emily Sanchez, what began as a passion project in 2018, a simple desire to share the love for home decor and plants has blossomed into a full-fledged brand that resonates with enthusiasts worldwide.
We sit down with Emily, the visionary behind Classy Casita to unravel the story behind its inception, delve into the intersection of travel and homeware collection, and get an insider's view of the favourite products, morning routines, and the exciting plans Classy Casita has in store for 2024.
Where and when did the idea of creating Classy Casita come from?
In 2018, while sitting at home, I decided to create an Instagram page and blog to share my love for home decor and plants.
Fair enough! You've now made waves in the home decor world. Was that always the intention, or has the company expanded with growing interest in that specific category over the years?
Yes, I have loved home decor since I was young and would always decorate my room. It all started with me wanting to share inspiration for others about home decor and plant care through a blog; then, it led to a business due to my love and talent for brand and product development.
I can see on your website that you've got some pretty amazing travel recommendations, and I've been extensively reading the Costa Rica and Oaxaca ones as I'm off to both of those places in early 2024! Have you always been an avid traveler, and do you find and collect local homeware pieces when you visit new countries and places?
That is so great! I hope you have an amazing time!
I became a big traveler during college when I studied abroad in India for a few weeks during a summer break. Prior to this, I had only traveled to Mexico with family, and it opened my eyes to a whole new world. Since then, I have made it a goal to see and experience more of what this world has to offer. Bringing memories with me from my travels is always a must, and on my last trip, which was to Oaxaca, my family and I each bought a rug for our home.
What's your favourite Classy Casita product and why? (I’m personally a fan of the Casita baskets!)
Thank you so much! Honestly, my Classy Casita Sticky Traps have been my favorite ever since I launched them. They seriously work wonders and capture any annoying bugs that hang out on or near your plants. However, with the new launch of apparel, I have to say that I love all of those pieces because I put a lot of love and thought into them.
If I had to choose one main favorite, it would be my Plantitas & Chill sweat set. The material is beyond comfy, and I love that it comes in two colors so you can match it with your bestie.
This is my last favorite, I promise! I am obsessed with my Classy tote bags; they are such an essential. They are also available in various colors, so mixing and matching is fun.
Where do you draw your inspiration from?
I draw my inspiration from everywhere I go, especially while I travel. Travels to Latin America and my travels to Asia and the Middle East have always been a big inspiration.
I read your article on manifesting on your blog. Is there any chance you want to write for us?!
Ahh, yes! I love that blog post because I feel so strongly about manifestation! It started as a form of healing for me that turned into a mindset, and ever since I developed this mindset, I have been able to live life with a much more positive mindset.
I'm intrigued to hear about your morning routine, I feel like it will be super holistic and enviable!
I absolutely love my morning routine; I call it my 'Me Time.' I wake up at 6 am to get ready for my morning workout; for me, it is the best way to start off my day while listening to Daily Jay on the Calm App.
Once I am back home, I have my post-workout shake and shower to get ready for the day. My favorite part of my morning routine is doing my skincare and cleaning up a bit to set up my day.
What do you and Classy Casita have planned for 2024?
What I have planned for 2024 are some new home and plant decor-related products. I really want to design something new that people would love and appreciate having in their homes. I also plan to keep expanding in retail and have Classy Casita products in more brick-and-mortar shops around the US and Internationally. I want more people to find our products, not only for themselves but also for their plant-lover friends to share as gifts.
