Beyond the Surface: Dr. Aneesha Ahmad on Elevating Aesthetic Medicine with Skyn Doctor

For many, the path from general practice to aesthetic medicine might seem unconventional, but for Dr. Aneesha Ahmad, it was a natural evolution of her passion for skin health. With a background in dermatology and a commitment to offering safe, medically-led treatments, she founded Skyn Doctor —a clinic that has become known for its personalised approach and advanced skin rejuvenation techniques. In this interview, Dr. Aneesha shares her journey, the inspiration behind creating Skyn Doctor, and how she blends medical expertise with cutting-edge aesthetics to help clients achieve their best skin.

Nicolle: Dr Aneesha, what inspired you to shift from general practice to founding Skyn Doctor and focusing on aesthetic medicine?

Aneesha: My interest in skin health has been a passion throughout my medical career, and I saw a clear gap in the local area for medically-led aesthetic treatments. While working in general practice, I realised that many people were seeking high-quality skin care services but had limited access to clinics that offered a safe, professional, and science-backed approach. I still work as an NHS GP, but founding Skyn Doctor allows me to apply my medical expertise to help clients feel more confident through personalised aesthetic treatments.

Nicolle: How has your background in dermatology influenced the services and treatments offered at Skyn Doctor?

Aneesha: My background in dermatology has been influential in shaping the services and treatments we offer at Skyn Doctor. It allows me to introduce evidence-based treatments that are thoroughly researched and proven effective, rather than merely following trends or fads. This ensures that our clients receive the highest standard of care, grounded in medical science. Also, my experience in dermatology helps me identify common skin issues, which may have limited treatment options available within the NHS. At Skyn Doctor, we’re able to provide tailored solutions for these conditions, offering patients access to a wider range of advanced treatments that might not be as accessible elsewhere.

Nicolle: With the recent opening of your second clinic in Cheshire, what unique offerings can clients expect compared to your original West Yorkshire location?

Aneesha: Clients at the new Cheshire clinic can expect the same high standards of care that Skyn Doctor is known for, with a continued emphasis on doctor-led treatments. The location offers a more discreet setting, providing greater privacy for those who value confidentiality. This additional level of privacy ensures that clients can feel comfortable and secure while receiving top-quality aesthetic treatments in a peaceful setting.

You’re known for your expertise in correcting ‘botched’ filler procedures. Can you walk us through the process and challenges of managing such cases?

Aneesha: When managing problem filler procedures, I start by taking a thorough patient history and, if possible, encourage the patient to take advice or obtain notes from the original practitioner to understand the product used and the technique applied. One of the main challenges is gathering accurate information, especially as patients are often understandably anxious.

A key part of the process is rebuilding their confidence and reassuring them that one bad experience doesn’t mean future treatments will be problematic. However, the increasing number of 'botched' procedures highlights the urgent need for stricter regulation in the aesthetics sector. Many cases result from treatments carried out by individuals who are either unqualified or insufficiently trained. Stricter regulations and higher standards would help reduce these risks and ensure patients are in the hands of experienced, well-trained professionals.

Nicolle: What cutting-edge skin rejuvenation techniques do you offer for clients seeking non-invasive alternatives, and how do they differ from traditional procedures?

Aneesha: At Skyn Doctor, we offer cutting-edge skin rejuvenation techniques such as Morpheus 8 and Radiesse, both of which are highly effective non-invasive alternatives to traditional procedures. Morpheus 8 combines microneedling with radiofrequency to stimulate collagen production deep within the skin, leading to tighter, smoother, and more youthful-looking skin without the downtime associated with surgery. Radiesse, on the other hand, is a dermal filler that not only adds volume but also stimulates your body’s own collagen production for long-lasting results.

What sets Skyn Doctor apart is our bespoke combination packages, tailored specifically to each client's unique needs. Combining treatments like Morpheus 8 and Radiesse can ensure the best and most natural results, enhancing the skin’s texture and structure for a more holistic, rejuvenated look. This personalised approach allows us to address individual concerns while delivering results that truly reflect the client’s natural beauty.

Nicolle: As a certified partner of The National Medical Weight Loss Programme, how does Skyn Doctor support clients in achieving their weight loss goals?

At Skyn Doctor, as a certified partner of The National Medical Weight Loss Programme, we support clients in achieving their weight loss goals through regular follow-ups and detailed consultations. We take the time to understand each client's unique barriers to weight loss and offer open access to our practitioners for ongoing support if any issues arise. Our holistic approach ensures that we manage not only the weight loss journey but also any side effects, providing comprehensive care throughout the process.

Nicolle: Skyn Doctor has earned multiple accolades, including Best Clinic at the English Hair & Beauty Awards. What do you believe sets your clinic apart in the competitive aesthetics industry?

Aneesha: What sets Skyn Doctor apart is our strong ethical approach. We take pride in educating our patients and ensuring they understand the treatments best suited to their needs, which isn't always what they initially have in mind. We're not afraid to say no if we believe a procedure isn’t in their best interest. Patient safety and achieving natural, effective results are always our top priorities, which is why we've earned such recognition in the industry.

Nicolle: As a trainer and ambassador for various prestigious aesthetics brands, what emerging trends or advancements in aesthetic medicine are you most excited about?

Aneesha: I am particularly excited about advancements in regenerative medicine, specifically the evolving use of biostimulator products like polynucleotides, exosomes, and Radiesse. These innovative treatments offer amazing potential for enhancing skin rejuvenation and promoting natural healing processes. As we continue to explore their applications in aesthetic medicine, I believe they will significantly transform our approach to achieving more effective and longer-lasting results for our clients.

Dr. Aneesha Ahmad’s dedication to providing ethical, science-backed aesthetic treatments have set Skyn Doctor apart in the competitive world of skin health. Her commitment to client safety, personalised care, and ongoing education has earned the clinic a reputation for excellence, recognised through numerous industry awards. As she continues to expand her services and explore the future of regenerative medicine, Dr. Aneesha remains focused on one goal: empowering clients to feel confident in their skin.
