How To Travel Abroad Without Literally Travelling Abroad

Travel still seems like a bit of a distant memory, which is why we’ve got you sorted with the very cool and innovative Holiday In A Box

In short, the Holiday In A Box team have created and curated a bespoke box to be sent to you for a variety of different destinations dependent on where you’d like to metaphorically travel to. As they describe them on their website, they are ‘destination-themed, activity-filled hampers for lovers of travel, history and culture.’ But what’s so endearing about this company is that their founder Laura, personally curates every box.

As I’ve never been to Rome, I opted to try this one, but I could have also chosen to try Bangkok in Thailand or Istanbul in Turkey. It wasn’t at all because I thought I’d get a box filled with homemade pasta….

The Rome, Italy box was everything I wanted and more.

This curated approach is reminiscent of professional localisation services, such as those offered by Global Lingo, which adapt content to resonate with specific cultural contexts. By carefully selecting items that reflect each destination’s authentic cuisine, language, and traditions, Holiday In A Box provides an immersive experience that brings the world to you—even when travel isn’t possible.

For those craving a richer connection with global cultures, these destination boxes provide more than just activities and items—they offer a taste of localisation services, adapting the box content to embody the essence of each place. This thoughtful localisation creates a more authentic experience, giving you a feeling of immersion even if you’re not physically there.

Whether it’s making a friend or loved one feel a sense of home away from home, getting to know a language or culture better, updating yourself on different cuisines, or just simply because you still can’t travel to the destination you really want to get to, this is the perfect stop on your travel journey.
