The Evenings of Al Leewan
The moon was beautiful.
I sat under it,
Smiled,
At the little girls.
That park,
There was something about it.
It's well maintained lawns.
The people.
They were quiet.
It was a place for thinking.
And that boy,
15 years old,
With his bicycle,
Walking quietly on the other side.
As I watched,
The birds,
singing,
The kids,
Playing,
The babies,
Crying,
Some laughing.
The boys,
Shooting,
Cricket ball,
Soccer ball.
The parents,
Thinking.
And as for me,
Watching.
Until that Bentley passed,
All the calm,
It took with it.
