Luna Moth

The sinister grains of the Luna Moth

Beat softly, insipidly.

A slow dissolve of animated dust.

Papery wings stalk the moon like thirsty birds.

I was your clear pool,

In the slick liquid of lapis,

I am the beauty of ever after.

I am the flash of the heron and the hare.

Did you ever imagine that my love for you

Could radiate roses?

So deep, so red.

The petals fall like shrapnel,

I dream that you think of me,

And my body turns into water,

Opalescent, cool and pure.

You are the beauty of unknown territory.

You are the bite of the spider and the snake.

In these crushed-cherry hours,

Blue secrets drowned in the darling fire.

There is a black mirror between us,

My body shudders for release.
