It Tasted Like Love
I took a bite of my chicken
You licked your ice cream
And the taste of it
The sweetness of it
On our tongues,
It tasted like love.
The spices,
In my mouth
The sugars on your tongue
You loved chocolate
I loathed it
I preferred butterscotch
But it tasted like love.
What we had wasn’t love
It was the idea of it.
