December Dawn
By Katie Ness
The snow melts faster than you can catch it,
Metamorphic clouds trickle like breathing rain,
The sky blessed me with the turquoise imagination of god.
Ducks laugh together like a cackle of babushkas,
Settling the rage of winter.
Dark waters crystallize antique crisp leaves,
Soldier trees stand, still and silent to honour the harsh beauty of frost.
They feel the silence of the ice.
Icicles cling to the blades of grass like a lost lover returned,
You interrupt my pretty reverie with a warm smile.
Time has frozen yet life will soon awaken from its persephone slumber.
Everything is at a crossroads in this world,
And waiting to begin again.
