Top 12 Travel Essentials You Need This Summer

It may be mid-August but I refuse to believe that the UK summer is over yet!

Firstly, we haven’t had enough sunny weather to even have called it a summer, but secondly, more holidays in sunnier Europe beckon, as well as a desire for long summer evenings throughout September with a warm breeze, BBQ and rosé in hand. If we all think about it, it will happen. I know it!

I digress.

With the above in mind, I wanted to bring together some of my favourite travel essentials I’ve been using (and am about to reuse) as I jet off to Singapore next week.

So here are my top 12 travelling goodies that you need this summer (whenever it actually does end), and beyond.

The D-Robe ultimate backpack

D-Robe is an outdoor apparel brand specialising in sustainable luxury dry robes, rucksacks and knitwear, and when I say I love their backpack… I REALLY love their backpack! I use the Roll-Top Large in Admiral Navy and it’s got so much space. For someone who only likes using one bag, and hand luggage on even the longest flights, it is honestly perfect. The travel essential you need in your life that fits just about anything in it.

RelaxayVoo’s Night Renew Face Oil & Day Protect Face Serum

If you’re looking for a brand that fuses skincare and energetics, this is the brand for you. If skincare is a must-do in your beauty regimen, RelaxayVoo is the habit that you need to treat yourself to to take that routine and make it a daily self-care ritual. Having tried their Night Renew Facial Oil and Day Protect Serum after being recommended the brand by Lulu Townsend from www.thehotelguru.com, I can safely say that these are absolute travel and skincare essentials.

Adday Wellness’ gut powders

Adday Wellness are a ground-breaking wellness vegan supplements brand with a range of formulations that provide your gut with beneficial bacteria, vitamins, nutrients and neutraceuticals to support the microbiome. The sachets taken daily with water are perfect for travelling or to take whilst on the move, ensuring that you meet all of your health goals and don’t lose your routine when out of the country.

There are 5 products that you can choose from: Mind Focus, Pre Immunity, Pro Immunity, Symbiotic and Weight Balance.

This ‘Ready Set Glow' travel kit by Hair Syrup

The ‘Ready, Set, Glow’ Hair Essentials Bag by Hair Syrup may be the most convenient, mini must-have summer hair care essential to ensure your hair stays in top condition, no matter where your summer travels take you. The custom bag contains bottles of Vitamin C Me, Scalp Superfoods and LemonAid as well as an accompanying scrunchie and hair clip to effortlessly manage your hair whilst on the move.

Jet Candy’s plane remedy of dreams

For those of you who haven’t heard of Jet Candy, this is the brand to answer all of your jet lag woes. This was a second recommendation by Lulu Townsend from www.thehotelguru.com, and one I now can’t live without.

Essentially, Jet Candy is a travel-sized homoeopathic remedy created to combat the signs of jet lag. Choose from two products, the Jet Candy Plane Remedy which contains approximately 100 pills, and is sufficient for 10 intercontinental flights. The second, the Jet Candy Botanical Travel Essence, is a 10ml bottle made with the essences of five flowers with a dropper allowing for easy dosage. Both remedies help for all travel ailments, whether: air, water, road or train.

Remedies are built to combat signs of dehydration, disorientation, fatigue, mental sharpness and other symptoms associated with the disruption of the circadian rhythms and jet lag. Basically, an absolute travel must-have. Happy flying!

Mars the Label and their ridiculously soft headband

Mars the Label is a British fashion brand that proclaims their site to be ‘where the cool girls shop’. It’s no surprise then that their headband is one our top 12 travel essentials list of products you need this summer. Chic and comfy, the Mars Headband is lifestyle wear that feels great on your skin, is soft to touch and makes you look good, every single day of your holiday. Also, the headband is perfect for starting and ending your day with a killer skin routine. Including that all-important SPF!

The best travel anti-chafing balm

Summer adventures shouldn't be hindered by discomfort, especially not from any embarrassing chafing. Odylique’s natural and organic anti-chafing balm forms a protective barrier against moisture and friction, meaning you can enjoy your favourite activities without the fear of constant skin irritation. Keep one handy for those long hikes, beach days, or any adventure that gets your heart racing.

A personalised supplement box to keep up that all-important routine

For those who aren’t aware of Alyve’s unique supplement offering, let me enlighten you. Gone are the days of guessing what supplements you and your body may need, and trying to swallow multiple different pills. With Alyve, everything is streamlined. You simply take a quiz online, and the Alyve team create your bespoke customised supplement sent right to your door on a monthly subscription. It really is that easy. For those travelling, it’s even better because you just take one bottle rather than multiple sets to ensure your daily supplement routine stays intact.

Domestic Science’s Piana linen beach bag

If you’re a sucker for anything in gingham like me, you’ll be super excited by the Domestic Science Piana Linen Bag. A tote bag may not seem exciting at first sight, but trust me with this one. Slouchy and oversized, this is the dainty beach bag of your dreams. Versatility is key with travel bags, but also something that can fold away small enough that it isn’t too heavy or takes up too much room in your luggage. This bag is all those things and more, because, well, it looks great. Scandi-chic, tick.

A fashionable yet sustainable water bottle

I’ve been a fan of Ocean Bottles since before COVID-19 because the concept of a water bottle made from 65% recycled materials is something I’m personally on board with. the Ocean Bottle team have made their newer, lighter (or ‘liter’) version which is dishwasher-safe, leak-proof, and has a more streamlined design. Innovation is not dead, folks. The cups are perfect for a seat cup holder, clip onto your carry-on or slot snugly into your hand luggage. Even better, every bottle that is sold helps to fund the collection of 1,000 ocean-bound plastic bottles, so you know your money is going to something that actually helps the environment.

As they say themselves, ‘LIGHT on weight. BIG on impact’.

All of your SPF woes, answered

If it’s hand luggage and toiletry essentials that you’re after, Hello Sunday’s SPF products are the answer. I was lucky enough to try the Moisturising Serum, the Face Moisturiser and the Clear Lip Balm - a triple thread of SPF50! The serum also includes vitamin C so perfect for starting your morning or refreshing your face as you head to warmer climes after a long-haul flight. The other essential duo is great to have in your day bag, ready and waiting whenever the sun strikes or you need to top up your SPF. To the Hello Sunday skin experts, my skin says thank you.

Earl of East’s rinse-free hand cleanser

You may have thought the days of hand gel were gone post-COVID-19, but I’m here to say the hand gel is staying. At least brands like Earl of East have created more of a cleanser spritz though, rather than the medical-smelling thick gel of our pandemic nightmares. This rinse-free hand cleanser (developed by Earl of East’s in-house specialists in London, is made from the UK’s finest essential oils and organic denatured alcohol. Kind of perfect for pre-, during and post-flight in my humble opinion.
